This week we gave an invited talk at the German TV Platform’s workshop for mobile reception of DVB-T which was kindly (and wonderfully) organized by out local heroes of the IRT in Munich.

Our presentation is available from our publications page.

It was a high profile event with top-level representatives from the German TV Platform, DVB, BMW, Audi, Daimler and the usual suspects from the CE industry.

The picture shows from left to right: Dr. Helmut Stein (ISDM Düsseldorf, Member of the Board of the German TV Platform), Carine Lea Chardon (Managing Director German TV Platform) and Condition-ALPHA’s Alexander Adolf (Chair DVB TM-GBS technical working group). BMW presented two cars with the latest DVB-T (and other) reception technology. The brand-new 2011 6-series coupé was pretty awesome BTW… 😉

It looks like Germany will be the first market to implement mobile DVB-T reception. Mobile means vehicle mounted receivers in a train, in your car, on a ship. For hand-portable reception there are different solutions (e.g. DVB-IPDC on DVB-H). Of course car makers are looking at global solutions, so it will be interesting to see how other markets react.
